DJ Ryan’s journey into the world of music began in 1999, during his college years, when he first fell in love with electronic music. What started as a fascination with trance quickly evolved into a passion for the high-energy beats of drum and bass. Eager to share his love for music, he dove into DJing, learning the craft on vinyl—spending countless hours in his bedroom studio perfecting his technique.
In the early years of his career, DJ Ryan had the privilege of opening for legendary DJ Dara and playing across the East Coast, establishing himself as a rising talent in the underground electronic music scene. But, as life often does, a new chapter began when he took a break from the DJ world to pursue a career as a theatre teacher. His focus shifted for a while, but the love for music never faded.
In 2013, DJ Ryan reentered the scene, making the leap to digital turntables and quickly finding his groove again. He became a staple in Asheville’s nightlife, hosting epic New Year's Eve parties and playing in some of the city’s most popular clubs. His energy and deep knowledge of music made him a sought-after DJ, not just for the club scene but for anyone looking to throw an unforgettable party.
In 2016, DJ Ryan joined Remix Weddings, and his career as a wedding DJ began. Now, with years of experience under his belt, he brings the same level of energy, professionalism, and musical versatility to every wedding he plays. His ability to read the crowd, blend genres, and keep the dance floor packed is unmatched.
DJ Ryan doesn’t just play music—he curates a soundtrack that reflects the couple’s unique love story and sets the tone for a night full of joy, celebration, and memories. Whether you’re envisioning a smooth, elegant vibe for your ceremony or an all-out dance party for your reception, DJ Ryan has the skill and experience to create the perfect atmosphere for your big day. If you're looking for a wedding DJ who combines talent, passion, and a genuine love for making your celebration special, DJ Ryan is the perfect fit.
Experience: 20+ years in clubs and music venues, 8+ years specializing in weddings
Interesting thing about me: I used to promote for comedy clubs in NYC. I once had a ten minute conversation with Anthony Rap on the subway.
Hobbies: Tea parties with my daughter, going to music festivals, Theatre and Star Wars.
Favorite genre of music to spin: Dance music, from Prince and David Bowie all the way to Daft Punk and Justice. Old stuff, new stuff. If it has a 4 on the floor beat, even better.
Songs I like for when the older folks have left the dance floor: Can't Feel My Face by The Weeknd, Get Lucky by Daft Punk and Pharrell, Run the World (Girls) - Beyoncé
What have I been listening to lately: A Tribe Called Quest, Kid Cudi, Aminé and D.R.A.M.
My favorite moment during a wedding: The bouquet toss. When you think about it, it is such a weird tradition, but guests get so into it!
Hardware you prefer to spin on: Pionner XDJ - RX, It's a newer more compact unit that still has the guts of the DJM -900. Great for improvising when the mood strikes. It's the best unit I've owned in terms of fidelity
